Gavilan gets stuck into Tony Hackworth

Not a good night for the Newcastle lads. The game was played at York City' rain soaked ground . Newcastle took the lead in the seventh minute through Jamie Coppinger . Leeds were soon back in the game when Jason Wilcox low shot skimmed under Karelse, who appeared to have an injury.

Midway through the first half Diego Gavilan saw red, being sent off for elbowing Tony Hackworth after the Leeds defender had callously jumped on the Paraguyan.

Two minutes later Leeds were ahead , a back pass to Karelse was strangely misskicked and the ball trickled into his own net. Five minutes before half time a cross from Jason Wilcox's found Harpal Singh unmarked in the area and it was 3 - 1. McMenamin came on for Coppinger at half time and Karelse was replaced by Steven Grindlay, who after a nervous start pulled off a couple of good saves from Wilcox but eventually was beaten by Simon Johnson who'd replaces Singh late in the game.

Hackworth....isn't he one of the lads on trial with Woodgate and Bowyer?

Aye, Gavilan was getting one back for the non white community.

Are you sure it was Hackworth, he's easily mistaken you know.

...you lot sure it wasn't Stephen McPhail? Met his cousin (allegedly) tonight in a bar (OK, OK). Alan Shearer was in the corner and George Best was collapsed in the "bathroom".

But the big question is, was it a genuine "cors d'hombat" or was Diego so p!$$ed off with his lot that he'd have tonked Steph if she'd pointed her (camera) apparatus at him?

Gav(illan) has never struck me as an aggressive so-and-so. So what made him snap?
