delaHoyahammerowerherehinnyApologies if this has been posted / posed elsewhere, I haven't had time to read all the recent postings:
Didn't anyone else see the Oscars? Russell Crowe alluded to Newcastle when he accepted his Oscar, was he referring to wor toon or the one in N.S.W.? I only saw it on the news, here in Hong Kong, I think he erred when talking about Billy Elliott's 'roots'?

I'm sure he wasn't talking about the one in Kwazulu-Natal, R.S.A.?;7)

He was making reference to our fair City. He mentioned the Golden City when he spoke about Ridley Scott the Gladiator Director and Jamie Bell from Billy Elliot.

I really liked the bit where he said something like " for anyone who has been on the downside of disadvantage, there is hope." He must be a Toon fan.

Oh, and he did mention Sydney, Adelaide and Newcastle in the same sentence...mebbes not such a Toon fan after all.

Sting was funny at the after-Oscars party. He said he didn't mind being pipped to best songwriter by Bob Dylan, but that with him and Ridley both losing "Newcastle got stuffed again". He was talking about the football.Almost as amusing was Pamela Anderson, Liz Hurley and their cleavages being asked whether it was all about being seen at the right parties and Hurley said "No, it's all about rewarding artistic integrity." How did those two get famous again? Remind me.

Which two are you referring to Softie - Pamela's or Liz's? ;-{)

Don't know bout Liz Hurley, but Pamela Anderson became famous afterthat "wish you were here?" report she did with Tommy Lee on their
Honeymoon :-)

Why was that a "wish you were here"? They both came in the version I saw...

How uptight is Russell Crowe about young girl references? He didn't even crack a smile or even pretend to crack a smile the whole night. Actually, Gladiator was a great film and Crowe deserved his award but does he really think he's Maximus?

At one of the post-awards bashes he supposedly gave his room key to some famous actress(can't remember who), but left the party with another woman.

The REAL maximus would never have done that to his true love!

At my word unleash the 'do not disturb' sign.
