Calling all duct tape aficionados

By CLAIRE BICKLEY

DUCT HUNTING SEASON: Get your duct tape in an attractive row and it could earn you a cameo in the upcoming Red Green feature film.

The production is calling for a whole lot of sculptures built of duct tape to use in the climactic scene of Red Green's Duct Tape Forever, which takes place at a Minneapolis sculpture contest.

"If we like their thing, we'll put it in the movie. If we really like their thing, we'll put them in the movie standing beside their thing," promises Steve "Red Green" Smith.

In the $3.7-million feature spinoff of the long-running series, Red and nephew Harold (Patrick McKenna) compete to win the money they need to save their beloved Possum Lodge from takeover by developers. Five weeks of shooting begins in the Hamilton area April 29.

Would-be artisans should phone the production office at 905-631-7450 for some direction before beginning their masterpieces. No one wants to end up with 27 Eiffel towers.

Last weekend there was a short human interest story of a local middle school that had a fundraiser. The principal of the school stood against the wall on a ladder (in the gymnasium, it appeared), and for every donation received, a length of duct tape was placed on him, securing him to the wall. At some point, there were enough donations received that he was securely 'stuck' to the wall, and the ladder was removed, leaving him "Up Against The Wall". It was hilarious to see, and a clever idea, too, I thought.

Only in Texas! LOL

"Quando Omni Flunkus Moritati"

The Possum Lodge's pledge, to be recited at beginning of every membership meeting. (When In Doubt, Play Dead) From the Red Green Show, Red being the king of duct tape.

Teenaged girl in my old hometown has an entire wardrobe, including jeans and a t-shirt, made of duct tape, handbag too. She went to her high school prom in a duct tape gown that was really quite attractive -- since she didn't have to worry about it falling off, it was strapless, of course. (I am not making this up, honest!)
