I've just read on NUFC.com that we are apparently considering applying to enter the Intertwobob Cup to try and get into Europe if the league position doesn't get us there, (which quite frankly at the moment looks about as unlikely as finidng Lord Lucan riding Shergar) does this idea fill others with as much dread as it does me.

Entry still depends on league position, doesn't it ? So we're going to have to rely on teams even worse than we are also applying for entry and then hoping we can still raise enough steam to beat that lot off. I suppose it's marginally better than summer friendlies.

It gets you ready for the start of the Premiership but about midway all the teams that have entered have fallen away. Much like we do already so what's the problem?!

I saw Bradford play at Waalwijk in Holland in July and they were dreadful, though somehow they won. There again Walwijk were even worse. But the atmosphere was good, the natives on both sides were friendly, it was a beautiful summer's day, and we have to play some pre-season games, so why not play them against a few no-hopers like Waalwijk, then maybe a couple of tough games at the last round, and then into the UEFA first round. Plus of course the chance to see Big Al raise his first trophy for us above his head - he came for the silverware didn't he, and Bobby has just said he wants to win a prize for the adoring public, so where better to start than with the glorious Intertoto Cup? It should sit nicely alonside The Texaco Cup.
