Worrying trend in the Mag...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

for the last few editions we have had letters, enquiries & articles about the old days when the lads would go on the lash, meet a few "faces" & at a pre-arranged rendezvous twat each other 'til the boys in blue moved in. For me, if it were just that, the Police should leave 'em to it until there was a death and a few of the "faces" were on a charge of murder. Unfortunatley, the good old days were a little more scary if you were caught in the wrong place, tok a wrong turn, missed your train or chose the wrong pup. The fanzine scene did a lot to get rid of the violent ignorence among opposing fans, The Mag, should not be promoting it now.

The Mag's not actively saying it was great to go & cause havoc but the odd letter gets in where someone is reminiscing about those days without condeming them.

he latest issue has the regular Ask Anorak bit where somebody wnted the names of some of the big gangs that used to go into battle in the Leazes shed (I'm too young to remember the Rangers-Celtic fights). Whilst it's not promoting violence, the detail of the gangs activities might be giving out the message to the more impressionable that this was all harmless fun.
