If the Isotopes had different numbers of Protons and Neutrons, what would the element be called?

Isotopes have different numbers of neutrons but the same number of protons. If they had different numbers of protons they would be different elements. For example all kinds of carbon have 6 protons, but there are several isotopes such as carbon 12 and carbon 14. carbon 12 has 6 neutrons and carbon 14 has 8 neutrons. see pg 28 in the text book for a picture and more info.
