Dear me. I really did terrify some of you.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Quite extraordinary the reaction of some of you to a Sunderland supporter posting on your tedious little site. What dreadful things will befall you if I continue to post on this site? You must have very little confidence in your views if you think they can be undermined because one local opposition supporter reads them and, horror of horrors, might even point out when you exceed socially acceptable levels of self-delusion.

The Strawberry did have some tossers from my side of the divide who wanted to disrupt things, although the majority of mackems (I was very rarely on there) on that site actually stayed to have sensible conversations. However, there was nowhere near as many as the mag tossers we get on RTG and have to cope with in one way or another (of course, we do also have some sensible mags). The reason the Strawberry failed was because you lot couldn’t hold your own in an argument. Your approach is similar to a child sticking his fingers in his ears and shouting “nah, nah I can’t hear you”. It is this sort of mentality that, after years of the country taking the piss out of you for the “Barcelona of the North” and “bigger than Man United” rubbish, allows desperate Doug to stand up and repeat the whole thing all over again. Insularity very rarely leads to strength.

Let’s have one last attempt to see if you have any sense of guilt at all. In the thread down below when a lot of you were boasting about posting under various names and disrupting things on RTG, not a single one of you posted to say "hold up, we wouldn’t want this to happen on our site – surely we shouldn’t be doing it on theirs”. Is there a single regular on here who now feels bad about that?

Hi MaKem, looks like you've scared everyone off here today it's dead. I don't post on other bulletin boards under other names and I'm happy for you to come here and contribute. The only problem is te E mail Adrress, It causes the system a few problems . Could you not get yourself a hotmail one or some other real address to use on here?

You say the Strawbery has failed? I didn't know that, mind you after seeing that Pabs and co get revenue from it I stopped logging on.

Post away, there are people who support other teams than NUFC who contribute. Generally having a password protected bbs means people are less likely to post casual, abusive messages because they can't be arsed to register, but the downside of this is that sometimes things get a bit stagnant is not many people are on.

Right, I'd like to take you up on the "you lot couldn’t hold your own in an argument" comment. Do you not remember the state of Sunderland bulletin boards during your last relegation season, or even the first half of your promotion season? While you lot were struggling you didn't have a leg to stand on and virtually every jibe drew the tedious FTM response (and still is to some extent). Snappy comeback number 6? I think not. That's the equivalent of sticking your fingers in your ears is anything is. Painful as it may seem the boot's ont he other foot, for now. There are age old argument's on subjects such as attendences (ours are bigger ;-)) but few of us could deny you lot have had the upper hand for the last year or so. Equally our time will come again, so enjoy your moment 'cos I'll enjoy ours. It might even be next month, I still don't think you've got a great team. Your most in form player is a Geordie!

You'll find out soon enough that people aren't gonna respond to your postings without a valid e-mail address because of the system problems that Rik mentioned....

So go and create one since you want to hide your real identity...
