Just been reading the threads and noticed that a couple of Mackems have finally infiltrated this board.

DONT ANSWER THEM!! This board is far better off without any SAFC input. There I was the other day thinking how good this board is because of the absence of Mackems...pure black 'n white devotion...and lo and behold one of them gets through and everyone rises to the bait.

Ignore them and they will go away. Just look at the mess The Strawberry is in. All of the intelligent regulars have deserted the place.

For Pete's sake dont let this board go the same way.........

So there I was gone and when I come back, the place is infested with Mackems! How did this happen? Not being a computer whizz-kid, I don't know whether someone would have to tell them the password or whether it's easy to find out.

Personally speaking, I say - First choice - Kill them. Second choice - Ban them (if poss - not a comp. whizz-kid y'know). Third choice - Completely ignore them.

I fully endorse the "IGNORE 'EM" advice - that way they'll soon lose interest.

I admit to being partly to blame yesterday by attempting to welcome some sensible mackem input, but everyone then piled in to 'have a go' - a big mistake as Buff warned immediately.

Funnily enough I sensed that the mackem who started the first thread was probably a fairly sensible guy who could have made a contribution, but unfortunately there is a wall between us that just seems impossible to breach.

For the sake of the health of this bbs we MUST totally ignore any further intervention.

SMB, you have to delete your greenspun cookie and then post something. When you get the successful post message you can ask it to set a persistent cookie with the new details you just typed in on your post.

I'm not ignoring people, just because they don't agree with us. I'll ignore maKems that just want to slag off Newcastle United but if they want to join in and can refrain from swearing at us that's fine. I can't see many (if any) wanting to talk to lads and lasses like us though. Most maKems seem to have a strange mentality towards geordies.

Agreed. Shame really as a bit of good natured banter can be fun but before you know it the place will get infested with mud-throwing, name-calling and insults. Compared with the dross that constitutes most football boards this place is an oasis of intelligent discussion and wit (especially when Softie is around). Lets keep it that way, just ignore them.

SMB,

Go 'off-line' and then into Windows Explorer; then the Windows directory in your C drive; you should find a directory called "Cookies". In their you should find a file reference to "Greenspun" which is the cookie you want rid of - delete this.
When you go back to the Greenspun bbs and try to post, you should find the boxes for your monika and e-mail address blank. Fill these in as you now ant them and post. When you get the "successful post" page there is a link to establish a cookie containing your new details.

That should hopefully work.

It's made easier on here when you post a message because it asks whether you want to delete the cookie that's already been set at the foot of the answer window. If you do that then the next time you post the e-mail and name sections will be blank. Fill them in with your new info and post your message and simply click on the link it gives you with the "success!" message to have those new details recorded permanently.

As clarky says, you otherwise have to paddle about in Windows Explorer in the Windows folder in either "cookies" ot "temporary internet files".

I put my spectacles on to type that....it seemed appropriate. I hope nobody gives me a wedgy when I walk to the water cooler :-)

I've missed all of this through being illwol for a week, but the one or two lurks I've had on the RTG site have been enough to deter me for life. It's a bit like admitting you're a Constipation Street fan, or an Arsenders fan. I mean, why fn bother ?

As the old cliche goes, eavesdroppers never hear good of themselves. I'll take the 'make the most of it while you can' approach to the hakkems being in a position to lord it a bit at the moment.
