Sorry if this is too exciting

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Thought I'd pop back in to see my replies. I have to admit one or two were more intelligent than I thought they would be but generally you very quickly slipped into the easy facade of superiority so many of you use as a defence mechanism, followed by a bit of ritual abuse and quite a lot of denial.

Thanks for the invite clarky (the later poster wasn't me by the way). I have thought about it from time to time but to be honest I really don't like closed forums. While I admit open forums have some disadvantages, they are generally much more fun. I haven't even joined FTMX - to be hypocritical I probably would have if it had taken off and replaced RTG. I haven't yet joined the closed Talk of the Tyne but it was crap (like TWR) when it was open.

Macbeth - you seem to think I am one of the RTG "owners"/"administrators". I am not (honest! - I realise it is impossible to prove). Re your later posting - your non-macbeth postings on RTG are not listed on RTG but plenty of people have seen them. If you stand by them, I am disappointed. I wouldn't want you banned but I think if you had consistently posted under your own name, you might have shown greater restraint.

Gav - fair point but I have no intention of being hounded by some of your tw*ts (don't be daft and try to claim there aren't plenty on here). My argument was not for "real" names but consistent use of web names.

Syme - like I said to clarky, the later posting wasn't me. I have no intention of going back to RTG and making any boasts.

trythis@<<>>.com. Are you saying that one must reach your level of literacy and typing skills and put them into practice before one is allowed to post? Think about what you post. Why do you think I am trying to be "hard"? I am not.

Rik - you don't have my e-mail address. Even if you have the technology (which I doubt otherwise you wouldn't have made the claim), I posted my message (and this one) from an internet café. If you think the address to which the password was sent is my address, again you're wrong.

Just think about it lads and lasses. Many of the most abusive and disruptive postings on RTG have come from people who post regularly on here -almost always using different names because they did not want to be associated with their own actions. If you want serious debate, you're more likely to find it out in the light. However, the downside is that you get a lot of tossers - is it really that hard to ignore them? At the moment, you have the worst of all worlds. You have a cosseted little place where you don't get serious challenge to your views and the hypocrisy of many of you (certainly not all) of behaving in a way on RTG that you wouldn't want to have to put up with on here.

Maybe, you will all improve when you are on top again (inevitable that you will be but let's hope it's a long way off and doesn't last for long). Until then - FTM.

heh heh...I have to admit, these threads are the first one I've felt motivated to contribute to in quite awhile...nothing like a bit of antagonism to get the creative juices flowing ;)

In response, yes I did think about it, and I notice in your response that - along with your improved literacy and typing - the THINKING behind what you wrote has improved...my original point, which you seem to have missed - Checking your spelling/typing mistakes usually results in checking what you have written. I thought your last message was poorly reasoned, which was reflected in the poor grammar/spelling.

Personally wouldn't mind the 'occasional' firecracker-post tossed into the forum, just to liven things up a bit - as long as the forum doesn't degenerate into a testosterone-laden, chest-beating, my-RAM- is-bigger-than-yours, exercise in futility. Insulting comments, like in your original post, are heading down that path.

While others may find your diatribe interesting (I refer to a cat playing with a ball of twine) it is only amusing to me that you wish to converse with us rather than the "non-tossers" at RTG or wherever. What I do not understand why anyone from our beloved BBS would care to even visit such a horrid place (akin to a damp dark cave possibly?) such as the mackem land. I understand the need to preach to the wicked, but I believe the Chinese probably had more fun building the wall.

Maybe such places would be better off with people like you trying to improve them from within...just a thought....

I payed my first visit to RTG for a good six months tonight. It's still a load of shite. No one has anything interesting to say and they are still all signing their posting FTM and 2 - 1. I reckon the place is dying due to too many muppets slagging off the mags. We are better off in our closed community. You only have to look at the NUFC official site or the Strawberry to see that.
