greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

We seem to have attracted the attentions of the lowlife on the RTG site, who have this idea that half of the threads on this BBS are "bitter & twisted ones about Safc" and the odd dozen about RTG. I just thought I'd make them feel better and start a thread about them, it would be a shame if they were 100% wrong.

Response to RTG

RTG? Safc? Who?

-- Anonymous, March 22, 2001

Response to RTG

SAFC = Sunderland Association Football Club, or the Mackems to the rest of us.

RTG is a Sunderland Bulleting Bored.

Response to RTG

WARNING: The bastards will spam you if you put your e-mail on this thread!

The few maKkem Wear Hillsiders(mainly RTG staff who all have at least 4 seperate monickers) on RTG have finally stopped trying hard (like posing as NUFC fans) to get us to make the Strawberry our regular message board - they have at last realised we will not be a little controlled section of RTG. And now -just like a dog who is the result of inbreeding- they respond with anger and frustration at not getting their bone. They just dont learn, they are not capable, they are pure valley mackems

FreeTicketMackem Bastards.

Response to RTG

So how have they accessed this site?

-- Anonymous, March 22, 2001

Response to RTG

I've still not been allowed back on their site since I mocked a "Nunez accuses Reid of Racism" article on Sporting Life, with a "Nunez accuses Pope of Catholicism" piece.

Even I thought it was quite good, no, banned.

Response to RTG

Ignore them. If most of the RTG is about slagging us off and we barely mention them - who then holds the high moral ground? Leave them alone. Studied indifference is the ULTIMATE put down.

Response to RTG

So sorry to disagree with a BBS icon like yourself Jonno, but the ultimate put-down to a mackem would be to finish one point above them in the PL this year, next year, the year aft.........

Response to RTG

I've just looked for the first time in 2 months and they are talking about us, how sweet. I even get a mention. One of you is doing a very good job cos they still think I'm posting things despite my ban

Response to RTG

This is a general response to this discussion. I realise that you sad gets hiding on your password protected BBS will probably ban me for posting this, but it needs saying.

I am completely uninterested in matters Newcastle and have only "infiltrated this board" because a small group of Greenspun regulars have been using RTG as a playground for the past year or so and spoiling it for rank and file mackems who want to talk about SAFC.

If you want to post anonymous crap about Peter Reid being a racist etc, at least have the guts to post under your usual nom de board and allow mackems onto your own site to return the favour.

Apologies to anyone who has never posted on RTG, but if your mates don't grow up we'll reduce this board to their level.

Response to RTG

You've got to laugh - how often do we mention the Makems on here? Anyway, can't we just change the passwords to keep them off?

Response to RTG

LM,

That's what the Strawberry is for isn't it?

Pissed off because your own little Exec thing is not taking off?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2001

Response to RTG

I applied for their exec site, and openly stated i was a newcastle support, they let me in, i only lurked, but they eventually revoked my access

Response to RTG

I'd have to say I can't disagree with much Lurking Mackem said. I've never posted on opposition boards and if I did it would only be something like to ask how an ex Toon player was getting on or how they rated a player we were showing interest in, etc etc. They are fans, same as us, and it's a pity that rival fans don't have more mutual respect.

Mind I did look at RTG just once and did indeed find that far from it being full of "rank and file mackems who want to talk about SAFC" it seemed full of people slagging off the Toon (with extreme vitriol). I've not been back.

I certainly don't want to see that sort of thing happen here. There will always be the odd aside about our local rivals but I wouldn't want us to be hung up on them. At SJP I will NEVER join in any song or chant which has the name "Sunderland" in it.

When I started watching games there was no crowd segregation. Now you see the Mackems arrive at SJP in a tightly policed convoy looking like a column of POWs. These are guys from 10 miles down the road who doubtless go to the same offices and shops as the rest of us during the week. This is unacceptable in a supposed civilsed society and shows the depths to which these rival hatreds can drag people. (There has been at least one murder that I read of, of a Toon fan). Friendly rivalry should be as far as it goes and I'll continue to argue for same despite being seemingly in a small minority.

Response to RTG

Gotta agree with Jonno, folk on here openly boast about winding up the RTG lot. I don't really want to see them infiltrating this board and dragging us down to their gutter level.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2001

Response to RTG

Jonno - couldn't agree more. Ritual abuse sometimes spills over into genuine unthinking hatred.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2001

Response to RTG

They can only drag this board down if we let them. I've no problem if they'd like to read or participate in the (usually ;-) ) reasonable discussion on here. By ignoring attempts at pure abusiveness, they'll soon grow bored and go back to RTG and the Strawberry(sadly gone the way of RTG). It's really very grade-schoolish to go running around saying "I'm gonna mess up your board, cause you messed up mine. Nyah nyah boo sucks!"
*yawn*
