Transfer Deadline Day

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Well it is upon us once again!!

Anyone expecting any Toon news? I'd like to see us bring a striker on loan perhaps, especially if Shearer is out for a while.

I hope Glass gets the chance to move for his sake, he's wasting his time trying at tis club.

Benito Carbone looks on his way to Boro to add to the plethora of strikers down there. They say you live and die by your strikers as a manager so those two are really heging their bets at the Riverside.

Goram gone to Manure. Spurs after Jeffers.

Paul Dalglish probably off to Wigan. Looks like we won't get the appearances money from Norwich.

Coppinger to QPR? Nothing yet?

No Ronaldo either

Figo to Newcastle

What? Sorry, I'm a little hard of hearing.

F*ck all to Newcastle.... that's more like it

We've got until 5pm!!

hmmm.... hopefully we shan't be spending on some HUGE talent, more than likely a South American no-name-next Maradona/Pele-to-be.....oh and it has to fall under £7m because that's the most we can spend on any one player....

You forgot that we buy our players by the foot.

Cort and Ferguson = 7mil each rounding up to the nearest foot.

Acuna didn't make the ride-height on the Big Dipper so he was only 2mil.

It's so easy when you work out the pattern. We are only bidding for Van Niestelrooy and Ronaldo as they are cheaper sitting down.

Is Wise available then Softie? Would Chelsea have to pay us to take him away using this analysis?

-- Anonymous, March 22, 2001

They might stick Zola on his shoulders or make him grow an unfeasibly tall quiff (this is how Gary Rhodes gets higher fees than Jamie Oliver, apparently) to put one over on us. It casts the claims that O'Brien is 6'3" when he is officially 5'10" into quite a sinister light as well. Perhaps they used George Graham's tape-measure?

Is this why Given has shrunk a few inches? Did this shrinkage occur before we signed him?

-- Anonymous, March 22, 2001

Definitely afterwards. Gives a whole new meaning to being "short- changed".

Just think we could be having two transfer deadline days if the new Transfer Windows are introduced. Wahey

Midas Soccer are reporting that Coppinger has joined QPR till the end of the season on loan.

Two forwards out (Gall to Bristol Rovers on a free) and precisely zero, zip, diddly-squat, nowt, neebody, niemand in.

I'm not so sure that Coppinger has gone. Midas are running the story :After once again watching Jamie Coppinger, in the reserves against Aston Villa, QPR have followed up their interest and taken him on loan until the end of the season.

Last season the young striker had a loan spell at Third Division Hartlepool, and Newcastle are pleased that he will be getting some invaluable first team football with the London club.

But I've been checking the site Kegsy posted earlier today and he's not mentioned on it.

Gall was released by the club a couple of weeks ago.

Just underlining how we react to a forward injury crisis: offload the second string players and buy defenders from the worst club in the league. So who is going to play up front for the reserves now that Ameobi and Luax2 have to look to a place on the bench? Are we just going to train the second string how to play without forwards to get them ready for life in the first team?

Nah we'll take Bonvin our only recognised left winger (I don't think Robson recognises Glass anymore!) and play him up front! :0(

I'd like to think that Shearer could be back to play for the reserves soon but he'll go straight into the first team in another blunderfull cock up.

Gallacher to leave in the summer I presume along with Cordone and Glass. The squad is getting seriously depleted and I sincerely hope that Robson has some cast iron pokers in some pretty big fires!

Still, we've got about another 15minutes left to sign Rivaldo!

Who needs strikers? We've got Speed. He scores lots of goals with his head.

Ducking, running...

hmmm..... 5 p.m. UK time... not a single sniff of a possible move...oh I know... it was 5 p.m. American east coast time or maybe was that west coast time....or hawaiian time....

where's that pint???? NURSE!!!!!!!

Benito Carbone's move to boro has fallen through. They couldn't agree on the length of contract.
His wages - £40k per week at Bradford - might also just have had something to do with it for a player has only rarely played to his potential !
