another small engine question

Hi guys,I've got an 11 hp Briggs & Stratton engine that keeps backfiring through the carb,I've tried all the easy stuff.Any suggestions. Thanks,Daryll

Hey Daryll! Sure I know!!!! Does that suprise ya'll? Well anyhow, it's firing on an open intake valve. It may be sticking open a tad but I doubt it. I imagine the valve seat has worked loose in the block and needs to be pecked back in and "peened" to keep it there. Briggs were famous for that as the block is alum and the steel seat doesn't stay in vry well. Another thing it can be is a burned/warped valve. old hoot. Matt.24;44
