ONLY 500-1,000 jobs but......Corp. HQs are very nice because they don't pollute, most of the major vendors must have a "presence" nearby (which in Boeing's case would probably add another 2-3,000 jobs) and add greatly to area prestige. Albuquerque just picked up a small Fort 500 and for them it is great because they don't have H20 for industrial expansion.

HINT: DFW does and we got some power to spare also with more coming online, THE major transport Hub and few 50-60 mile per hr. winds with grey skies like some old time city in Ill. Denver would have to give about $50 Mill in tax abatements to win vs. either DFW or the old windy city in Ill. Sears almost moved out of Ill. but one of the burbs paid for the business.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Aerospace giant Boeing Co. said on Wednesday it will move its headquarters out of Seattle after 85 years, in a major blow to the city's status, saying it needs a central location nearer its customers and financing.

Boeing, which has been headquartered in Seattle since its founding in 1916, made the announcement as part of a restructuring it said was aimed at creating a leaner, more flexible company.

The company is eyeing Chicago, Denver and the Dallas/Fort Worth area for its new corporate center, saying it would make a final decision on the move by early summer and have an operational center in the new headquarters by fall.

The new headquarters will employ about half the 1,000 employees currently working in the Seattle offices, Boeing said.

CPR:

I have it from a reliable source [you know what that is worth] that they intend to begin moving more production to the center of the country. Of course, it makes sense in terms of employee costs [mostly housing].

I really don't like it. I have to fly through DFW on a regular basis and it is already a hassle.

From what I've heard, they don't consider commercal airliner production to be such a significant part of their future. It is sort-of mentioned in this article:

Boeing

That would mean as the facilities get older, those that are needed will be replaced elsewhere. There isn't a whole lot of room left in Seattle. It isn't like DFW where they could expand for a thousand miles. Of course I could be wrong.
