ORLANDO, Fla. - A United Airlines flight bound for Denver made an emergency landing Tuesday after smoke appeared in the cabin morning, officials said.

United Flight 1549, a Boeing 757 carrying 154 passengers and seven crew members, returned to Orlando International Airport without incident, said United spokesman Matt Triaca.

The plane left Orlando on time at 9:43 a.m, but smoke appeared shortly after takeoff and the pilot turned back.

Airport officials said fire and rescue workers were alerted, but there were no problems when the plane landed. United officials said the plane taxied to the gate and the passengers left the aircraft.

No one was injured, and the cause for the smoke is undetermined, airline officials said.

"We'll have mechanics looking at it," Triaca said.

The passengers were being put on other flights, airline officials said.
