Arizona Power Crunch?

Spring is just beginning but step outside and it feels like the start of summer. But the rising temperatures could soon leave Arizona in a power crunch.

Scott Harelson from SRP says "we can't say we won’t have a black out here in Arizona. At SRP we feel we have enough energy to meet our customers needs this summer but its gonna be very tight, we don't have a lot of room for error."

That's in part because there has been so much growth in the Valley. Harelson says while we have enough power to get by, there is not much extra. "We have lost a lot of our reserved capacity and because of that we would loose a significant amount of energy"

Utility companies are building more power plants. That’s the number one thing California is missing now.
