Pffsssst---glug, glug, glug, glug, (the sound of another Guinness being opened and poured into a mug) Ho There Casey, 'sip, slurp' just passing the time away the best I know how, 'sip, slurp', I should have bought stock in Guinness the way my consumption has gone up while waiting, 'sip, slurp, I now spend my time wandering around the yard sipping and slurping wondering what I could build with my team mates out of the collection of odds and ends laying around, old mowers, moped, assorted car parts, odds and ends scrap metal, VW motors and transaxels (real potential here), endless assortment of electronics stuff, 'sip, slurp'. Sigh, damn, gotta go and git another one, I can never seem to get more than half a beer away from the fridge. Gonna need a liver transplant if we are kept waiting much longer. Anyway, hope to see you in the Junkyard, we can outbuild ya'all using just a hammer and baling wire, BRING IT ON!!!!!! ken

Ken,

Sounds like you should make a portable frig...

Dan, Well, I do have a small fridge out in the shop, and several hundred feet of extension cord...But I think (after yesterday afternoons walkabout) that for a project this year (for our next demo) I'm going to take a bunch of old drill pipe I've got, use my windmill, and with a welder, and thoughts from the other 2 Wits, build a wind powered beer can opener/can crusher. Having some trouble figuring out to get the mechanism to pour the beer out before crushing the can tho'. One of my favorite bits in the sunday papers while I was growing up was the Rube Goldburg device that they showed every week. I always wanted one in my backyard, nows my chance and I can pass it off with the wife as a useful training device for JYW......ken

The solution to the can opener/pourer/crusher: Don't turn the can over to pour it. Hold it in place, puncture it top and bottom, collect the fluid from the bottom hole, crush the can in place when drained. Problem solved. Saaaaaay, shouldn't this be a real Junk Yard Wars challenge?

Don't tell'm Chip, the team can use the practice on something original. What's really going to be fun is taking this '48' Alis Chalmers tractor I've been given and getting it to run and then doing something with it besides plowing. Got too many trees to plow so with JYW running through our heads gotta figure out something cool to do with it besides a yard ornament....ken
