Huh? More details, please. Our snail-mailed Christmas cards to her were returned unopened.

-- kb (kb8um8@yahoo.com), March 17, 2001.

I second the motion! Oxy, how are you doing?

-- Anonymous7 (-@Bok's.before), March 17, 2001.

Thanks for the Christmas cards even tho I did not get them .. I think the rehab center I used to be in thought all snail mails were to be delivered only to snails. Since their insurance plans did not cover snails, ha!! everything was returned. More Darwinism.

I have been in three hospitals and four nursing homes and today was able to put on make up and walk around my room. May face more surgery. My plan is to continue to weigh more than 120. Recovery has been rough but a cool way to lose weight if nothing else. Sore spots are still right leg, ankle and much of spine. Sense of humor is still alive. The District Attorney wants me to name the number of prison years the drunk driver who hit me should get. Gosh. Any suggestions?

who are these people on this thread to be revealed later or from boks? email me please -- you are so kind ... and hello to all my other friends. Tangle with you all soon. -- Oxy.

-- Oxsys (Makalani7788@aol.com), March 17, 2001.

Oxy, I very seldom post here, and am not even what you'd call a 'regular' lurker, but have wondered even as recently as just yesterday how you were doing. I am very glad to 'see' you back here, and hope you continue to improve.

-- I'm (Just@FriendOf.Unks), March 17, 2001.

I cannot tell you how happy I am that you are feeling better Oxy! Bok's chat is gone BTW, you can go Here for a new chatroom that cin runs (owns?)if you want to chat with us lesser mortals.

Again, welcome back, you were in a lot of prayers.

Love,

Unk

-- Uncle Deedah (unkeed@yahoo.com), March 17, 2001.

Probably the one thing I love/hate about this forum is its ability to bring tears to my eyes. Dang, Oxy. It is SO good to know you're on the road to recovery. To be honest, I had my doubts there for a while. Did you receive the little people and the notes we sent from LV?

I don't go to chat anymore. The last time I went, Cin was ready to hit me with something. I stick to the fora where I can type a long rant, think about it, and hit my back button before I post. It kindof replaces the primordial screaming [although I'm free to engage in that with SO on contract out of town and the kids grown and gone.] Let me rephrase that. I'm free to engage in primordial screaming without someone rushing into the room to ask, "Are you okay?" just to hear me laugh and say, "Yep. Feel just fine now."

Hail foxy Oxy, full of moxie

-- Lars (larsguy@yahoo.com), March 17, 2001.

Oxy!! Wow -- what a wonderful surprise seeing you're back and doing better! And getcherself way better ASAP so's we can talk more, 'k?

The number of prison years the drunk driver should get? 90 seems reasonable. Real years, no parole. Well...ok...with good behavior we can bring it down to 85.

Oh yes, and no more driving privileges after that.

-- Eve (eve_rebekah@yahoo.com), March 17, 2001.

That drunk didn't put you in prison, so you shouldn't do that to him. Instead, you should be allowed to go out and *run over him*! My object all sublime...

-- Flint (flintc@mindspring.com), March 17, 2001.

WB, Oxy!

How 'bout he gets as many years in jail as you get in pain?

-- Tricia the Canuck (jayles@telusplanet.net), March 18, 2001.

Welcome back, Oxy! We've chatted in Bok's on one of the few occasions that I made it there: I generally avoid public chat rooms, too many nut cases.

I'm so glad to hear that you're feeling better! I hope that justice is served.

Many posters at Unk's have morphed in an effort to mentally move on. You'll probably get some private email cluing you in to the new handles; some old TB posters have physically moved on, many without fan fare. Your return will probably bring a few out of retirement.

Best to you, Oxy! Eat as well as you can. I'm looking forward to reading your posts again.

-- kb (kb8um8@yahoo.com), March 18, 2001.

Hi Ox....I am so pleased to see you post.

Sooo glad you are well on the way to complete recovery, I KNEW you could overcome, you are a special woman.

greetings from western ave, and you know who.

-- opps morphed :-) (morped@one.com), March 18, 2001.

Oxy, great to see you! Regarding the DA's question, how about a hybrid of Flint's and Eve's suggestions: you get to run over the drunk driver once a year for each of the next 85 or 90 years.

-- David L (bumpkin@dnet.net), March 18, 2001.

90 years in prison, and he has to share a cell with Manny.

-- Sanny (no@jip.con), March 18, 2001.

Oxy, welcome back! The creep should have to financially assist you for the rest of your life. My elderly mother was hurt in a collision between her small car and a larger one driven by a young female. She'll never be the same. The woman had no assets to go after in a civil suit, but maybe the criminal court can mandate support for you as an alternative to a more lengthy prison sentence.

-- Oxy Fan (OF@friends.r.us), March 18, 2001.

Oxy, I am sooo glad you are up and around again, finally! We've been keeping a chair warm in the chatroom for ya! Hope to see you there soon! Keep up the recovery! And the sentence the guy gets from the judge (what ever it is) will be nothing compared to what is really his true justice, which will come in time.

-- Aunt Bee (Aunt__Bee@hotmail.com), March 18, 2001.

I'll jump out of retirement for a minute to welcome Oxy back too! Glad your back online and doing okay, Oxy,..Good to see you! I send you my best wishes and hope for painless days for you in the near future. -kirsten

Oxy--

Your assignment, should you choose to accept it: Treat us to some more wonderful prose-poetry like "sexy red wagon"(?). Good therapy for you and for us.

She thinks my tractor's sexy ... greenspun.com : LUSENET : TB2K spinoff uncensored : One Thread ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------

His name was Andy, and at 63 he was an attractive man. An outdoors man, living in a farm environment, making his living by clearing brush. Nice tractor, he was proud of it, proud of what he did. Strong man, with kind eyes, thoughtful. When he came to mow our lots, he left me with brand new gardening gloves. A gift. Showed concern. Looking out for his customers.

I know it is going to be a strange day when those odd coincidences start to occur. I wondered where Andy had been. Not a call for a long time. I went to throw out some old newspapers this morning, papers I never had a chance to scan.

The front page of the local section: A nice picture, brushy field, blue gulf water. I almost tossed it away right then. No story of interest there.

Then I saw an overturned red tractor in the brush, hauled from the gulf. THEN the headline, finally. Bradenton man, 63, killed in accident with tractor. It was Andy. The name said Andy.

The red tractor had overturned, spilling him over a seawall, into the water, falling on top of him, crushing him to death. Relatives are out of state. Notification was difficult. Date of the paper: August 12. He lived alone. He worked alone, preferring it that way. He died alone.

I probably would never have learned what happened to him, if not for that chance, last minute glance at an old paper. What prompted me to catch that story this day, so much later, I may never know. Of the handful of people I have grown to appreciate in this small town, he was in the top two. It was just one of those intuitive, internal things.

I looked at the picture again. The tractor I used to like, that he looked so good on, expressing an honest day's work, was upside down. Now, I truly hated it.

Got dressed, went to the store, clicked on the stereo that somehow, some way had been jarred to an obscure country western station, one I never listen to. Sound blared from the get-go, hijacking my attention. The song, lyrics, something I had never heard before.

"She thinks my tractor's sexy." Cruel words, perfect timing.

"She even likes my farmer's tan.."

I have to tell you, we talk a lot on this forum. We talk in Bok's. We talk true; we talk shit. (Guilty here.) Some of us pray for each other, exchange e-mail, meet in person, help each other out to the last farthing. I know, and I thank you for all our connections. Some fight, and threaten, some hide, some don't do e-mails, some toy and confuse, enjoy the fun. No angel here, either. Just another person. One person's reality is another's fantasy holodek.

Which is as it should be. To each, his own.

But I have to wonder. People drop off the radar screen all the time, in real life, online too. Usually, we never know where they go. We assume all is well; they just moved on.

Maybe not. Connections are connections. To those who are shadows here, but pleasant shadows, I have to say thank you now. Not later. You have added to my life. I think we must be aware of the radar screen. At any moment, any of us may be gone forever.

"She thinks my tractor's sexy."

To Andy Vogeney ... man of the earth ... salute and farewell.

Thank you 2BLN--

Oxy posted these prophetic words on Aug 29, 2000. Ten days later, as she walked across a street, she was run down by a truck. The driver was drunk. She was in a coma for three days. She was off our radar screen.

Sometimes I am reduced to bumper-sticker wisdom. "Shit happens". Thank you for returning to our radar screen babe and thank you for the words in "sexy tractor".

I don't plan on leaving the radar screen soon but neither did you. So I will borrow your words while I am still intact. To all--"I have to thank you now. Not later. You have added to my life."

-- Lars (larsguy@yahoo.com), March 18, 2001.

Lars: That was so moving and yet so true. Prophetic? I believe it was. I was shocked when Ox's accident happened. Who can possibly follow up on your great words of wisdom Lars?

Thanks.

-- morph (morphed@here.now), March 19, 2001.

Lars, thank you for blowing me away all over again with that exquisite post by Oxy. And your own words capped it beautifully. I'll just add that I tried and failed to choke back the tears on this one. All over again -- but this time in spades.

morph, you're so right. I know I wouldn't even dare TRY topping any of that -- not that I could ever come remotely close. It would be as Shakespeare said -- like throwing perfume on a rose.

-- Eve (eve_rebekah@yahoo.com), March 19, 2001.

I'm not sure if I've ever posted about this before, or whether I only told a few folks in chat about it.

Years ago [when I first got my PC], I met a woman in an obscure MSN chatroom. I'm thinking that the name of it was "Monk's Monastery", as we'd both seen enough of the internet to be tired of guys asking us if we were horny and children coming in with the questions regarding sex and age. Anyway, we took it offline with E-mail and even tried out the software where we could hear each other's voices. We had a lot of fun with that. I learned all about HER family and she learned all about mine.

I don't even remember when it was anymore now, but one day she told me that she'd gone in for some tests and was going to have an operation and gave me another E-mail address to use while she recuperated. We chatted for HOURS that day, even joking about the situation. The night she went in for the operation, I found one of those Hallmark-type net greetings and sent it to the new address she'd given. The next day I sent more, and the next day more, etc. I NEVER heard from her. Fearing something had gone wrong, I E-mailed her home address. No response. After a week or so, I E-mailed her work address. No response.

Either it was all a ruse to get me out of her life, or she HAS no life anymore. I'll never know which, and a part of me doesn't WANT to know which.

-- Anita (Anita_S3@hotmail.com), March 19, 2001.

Anita--

You did post that once before but it was worth reading again. I think of all the people across the years that I have dropped or they have dropped me or we just somewhere diverged in a wood. It didn't seem important at the time. Now it does.

I have actually renewed a small correspondence with my HS girlfriend. Just pics, a few details. She is a married granny. We keep it light but I think we both appreciate it.
