Focusing Ring Slippage on 135 macro

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Pentax 67 SLR : One Thread

I've noticed the focusing ring on my 135 Takumar sometimes slips when I turn it quickly, meaning it can be turned without focusing the lens. At first it was very minor and I thought there was a dry spot on the focusing helical in need of lubricant, but recently it has gotten worse and I found that if I press against the lens slightly from the front pushing toward the body, I can turn the focusing ring thru it's full range and the lens will not extend. If there is no pressure on the lens, and I turn it slowly, it focuses OK.

The lens has had very little use by either me or the previous owner. As far as looks go it is near mint. I know it has not had rough treatment. If this is an easy fix, such as tightening a screw, I would be willing to tackle it myself with a little guidance on where the adjustment is needed before I start taking it apart. If it is not so easy to do, then maybe Pentax should do it. Has anyone had this problem? Any advice will be appreciated. Bob
