60 Macro Elmarit cams?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

I am considering purchasing a used 60 Macro Elmarit. What year (serial number) did Leica start producing this lens in a 3 cam version? Did Leica offer a conversion from the 2 cam to a 3 cam? Thank-you.

I'm sure you won't regret buying the Macro-Elamrit-R 60mm lens. I bought a used one four months ago and it is probably my most used lens. It performs equally well at infinity and at the close distances for which it was designed. I don't consider its f/2.8 maximum aperture or its slightly narrower angle of view than a standard lens to be a disadvantage. There are faster 50mm R lenses but I haven't yet felt the need to get one. The 60mm gives excellent reproduction quality and nice smooth bokeh, which I think is important for a macro lens.

It's one terrific lens!
