M-Rokkor 90 f4

Hello

I have a CLE with the 3 Rokkor lenses, and have a few questions.

Anybody having experience about the quality of the M-Rokkor 90 compaired to the Elmarit?

Are there a big diference in the 1-3 meter range?

Anybody who know how the 40mm will work on a M6?

The 90 Rokkor is a good lens in its own right, but is not even in the same league as the Elmarit. It is an unfair comparison really, as the Elmarit is probably one of the best lenses in the world. I bought the 90 Rokkor to have something more compact to use with my CLE, but after direct comparison shots with the Elmarit, I sold it. If you don't need super high sharpness (like for portraits)or the 2.8 aperture, its still a nice lens and as good as most 90's out there. The 40 works fine on any of the M cameras, but brings up the 50 lines and you just shoot it "real loose" on the 50 lines. I use mine on an M3 sometimes and use the whole finder as a estimation of framing with good results.

AND HERE

BTW, the 90mm Rokkor is the same as the Elmar-C and was actually made by Leitz. It is said to be the only Leica lens marked with another maker's name.

Bob: The CLE lenses were different than the CL lenses, and have the standard Leica focusing cams.

The CLE lens was made entirely by Minolta in Japan, and is multicoated instead of single coated like the CL's Rokkor and Elmar C. You can tell the difference between the CL and CLE lenses by the serial numbers being on the body of the lens on the CLE lenses, and not on the filter ring. Again, the CLE lenses are 100% compatible with the Leica M bodies.

That is 100% compatible on the focusing. As far as framing, the 90 brings up the 90 lines in any M camera as it should, and the 40 brings up the 50 lines as mentioned above. The Rokkor 28 brings up the 35/135 lines however, and not the 28 lines.
