I don't want to defend him but you might make your case against him more articulately. What is a "treasonist whore"? Is McCain also a treasonist whore? Do you deny that addictive gambling is a tragic reality for some 5% of the population?

"Do you deny that addictive gambling is a tragic reality for some 5% of the population? "

So? There are sex addicts. Are we going to ban sex in all 50 states to stop these people? There are alcoholics. Are we going to ban alcohol in all 50 states to stop these people? (we tried once...worked real well didn't it?) So now, 5% of the population has a gambling problem so that means EVERYONE must have gamblinb taken away from them? Yeah, that makes sense.

If I am tired of anything in this country, it is the babysitting. Everyone with the slightest problem whines, and some group while rise to defend them, and tell us how it is someone elses falut. BS, it is their own fault. But instead of taking responsability for themselves through the many avenues available to them (drug repression, 12 step programs, gamblers anon and so on), let's just outlaw it.

I used to smoke 2 packs a day. No one forced me to start, no one twisted my arm, no one lit those cigarettes for me. And then one day I woke up and realized I hated waking up every morning coughing (and this after only about 6 years of smoking) and said to myself "What are you doing you moron?" and I quit that day cold turkey. I went from 2 packs to 0. No patches. No self-help groups. No 12 step programs. No whining for cigarettes to be banned. Nothing. And since I quit, I have never once whined to anyone how smoking should be outlawed. Why should I try to take something away from someone else?

I am sick and tired of anyone who whines about something and people jump all over it. Why should legal avenues of enjoyment be taken away from 95% of the population just because 5% can't control themselves? This country has degenerated in to "Who ever whines the loudest wins", and I for one, am fed up with it.

And for the record, I am not a gambler. I have gone to casinos on an infrequent basis (I think the last time I was in one to gamble was around 5 - 6 years ago, and I was in one about 4 years ago for a concert, but did not even play one nickel). I have never gambled on any form of sporting event and have no connections to the gambling industry.

The people in this country need to worry more about their own lives than what their neighbors MIGHT be doing. (and before anyone says it, I am talking about currently legal things, I am just waiting for someone to say this means I think murder should be legal or something to that effect)

I do not deny the issue of Compulsive Gambling, it is real and tragic. This effort to end betting on College Sports addresses this issue how? Like ending legal betting would do what? Help sick people? Come-on you buying it?

Truth is because of LEGAL betting in this state-Nevada, most of what goes on in the rest of the country(including the games themselves)are for the most part LEGIT. Maybe totally illegal in 49 States to wager on Sports, but does that stop it? course not.

This issue is one where hopefully some of you will wake-up. These Repubs are NOT what they claim they are. They do not represent YOU or most of us whatever one's damn political-philosophical-social- or religious leanings.

Understand also please, many calling themselves Democrats are not much better. However I find it difficult to even find ONE Republican who is not completely compromised.

This is what is called MORALITY LEGISLATION. It is completely at odds with Nevadas' right to govern itself any damn way they want. It is anti-State's Rights which once DEFINED the REPUBLICAN PARTY. Course like I have been telling some of you this ain't the Republican Party.

Now care to comment? To explain how the Republican Party can support such nonsense? How this means less crime, less need for YOUR tax dollars, less Liberty to live your damn life without some massive Gumbit dictating your lifestyle....

GO AHEAD

Just one more case of "my morals are better than yours,".

If there is any whoring here, it is that of governments who encourage citizens to engage in addictive behavior and then tax that behavior. State lottos anyone?

If you want gambling, then legalize gambling but don't tax it; if you want tobacco (or drugs or alcohol), then legalize it without levying high taxes on it under the pretext of discouraging its use. What hypocrisy--it is the governments that are addicted to the income from the addictive substances/behaviors.

If you want to argue that governments should not legislate against "victimless" crimes then, up to a point, I would agree with you altho I would also say that victimless crimes are usually not victimless. Ever know the children of addicts?
