Purple Haze - Off season notes

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Purple : One Thread

Not much going on in the Viking camp this week. It seems the team is more worried about the draft than free agent acquisitions. This may not be all bad but our defense could use some help from a veteran or two. The Vikes have $2.1 million in cap room that has to be used for the draft and free agents so money is still tight. Someone will have to step up this season and make this team competitive. All offense and no defense will not work next season.

So far here are the free agent and roster moves the Vikes have done...

Players signed TE Giles Cole (signed as free agent) WR Billy Cockerham (signed as free agent) WR Jeremy Earp (signed as free agent) WR Lonny Mitchell (signed as free agent) DL Tim Engelhardt (signed as free agent) DL Antwone Young (signed as free agent) OT Jay Humphrey (signed as free agent) Re-signed QB Todd Bouman to three-year deal RG David Dixon (re-signed) Re-signed LB Mitch Palmer to one-year deal Re-signed C Matt Birk to one-year deal WR Joey Kent (signed as free agent)

Player lost DL John Burrough (released) RB David Palmer (contract rescinded) DL John Randle (released) RB Robert Smith (retired) DT Tony Williams (signed with Cincinnati) LB Dwayne Rudd (signed with Cleveland)

In other news former RB Amp Lee has signed with the Detroit Lions.
