seems Bowyer has owned up to what we all already knew, he's not very clever.

Can he spell prison? I think he's heading that way. But as Gav says he'll probably just end up laughing at us on easy street.

Lee Bowyer was today accused in court of telling "a pack of lies" to police and to the jury about the night an Asian student was attacked and left seriously injured. Bowyer has told Hull Crown Court that he was not involved in the attack because of his fall in Boar Lane, which is near Mill Hill. But Nicholas Campbell QC, prosecuting, said: "It's a pack of lies, Mr Bowyer."

The jury has seen CCTV footage of Bowyer hugging Caveney after the attack on Mr Najeib, which the prosecution claimed was "a victory embrace". Mr Campbell said: "You were part of the attack on the Asian student who you had left almost for dead. I am not saying that the others were not as exhilarated as the two of you. But you enjoyed it, Mr Bowyer." Bowyer replied: "No. I was not in Mill Hill. I have been misidentified because pictures of me have been in the paper. I was not part of any attack, no assault whatsoever, no victory to celebrate."

Mr Campbell went on to highlight some differences between Bowyer's evidence in court and what he had told police. "I am not very clever," Bowyer responded. "It's how I speak. What I have told you is what happened on the night and it might be jumbled up. I cannot help that, I am sorry. Mr Campbell, I am not very good with words. I made some mistakes in interview with words and how it's jumbled up and that. I am sorry." Bowyer, who has played for Leeds United for five years, said he has not been back into the city centre for more than a year.

Looks like Leapy Lee is digging a big hole for himself if the video evidence is as strong as it appears to be. He'll get little sympathy - he's a nasty piece of work who apparently lead Woodgate by his impressionable nose.
Rich kids: think they're a law unto themselves.....what a mess.

apparently according to a friend, Woodgate is quite quiet and not such a bad guy on face value, perhaps a bit wet in fact, but he says Bowyer has a nasty reputation in Leeds

"according to a friend, Woodgate is quite quiet and not such a bad guy on face value, perhaps a bit wet in fact"

Must be a good friend of his then, got his interests at heart. I'm saying nothing about the court case whatsoever. But Woodgate is loud, pushy and a natural (ring)leader. Personal observation, Ayia Napa, July 2000. Oh aye, and that was before he went out for the night...
