Note it says £4million 'package'. Is this some sort of exchange deal or appearance related deal? I suppose they would have said if a Fulham player would be moving our way.

four million ain't enough although he's always crocked. has a miserable attitude and has crap concentration. Good riddance to the snot-faced git.

i wonder if he'll play 7 games a season for them?

good player, but lacking in any kind of personality, will probably reach above averageness and disappear

yup...fuck off froggy...

-- Anonymous, March 13, 2001

Of course this leaves us without a senior centre back (well, there's Marcelino...) so you can't help thinking that the holy grail of a clean sheet may be a bit of a while coming...

-- Anonymous, March 13, 2001

I wonder if Robson has someone lined up to step into his shoes immediately or are we going to play out the rest of the season with Hughes and Caldwell, with Caldwell younger and Beharall getting more chances?

Either way we win really because any incoming player will want to play for the club and playing Caldwell week in week out can only help him. It will also tell us whether we can rely on Stevie to make the partnership with Hughes last.

NOW, what about Marcellino!!!

Well, if Al is out for any length of time, I might be tempted to say "f*ck the defence" and buy a striker - I mean, we're hardly rich in attacking options...

-- Anonymous, March 13, 2001

DB, I hear that Beharall is really crap. Does anyone have a view on him?

-- Anonymous, March 13, 2001

Tommy Craig was quoted on the IC site that Beharall and G Caldwell defended really well last night after cutting out the fancy stuff of the previous few matches.

I've never seen him play so I can't really comment.

Just making way for Dab`s and Caldwell with Hughes to full back, Quinn cannot be first chice can he?, Barton to defensive coach, aaaghhh

-- Anonymous, March 13, 2001

at least dabs has some kind of passion, stuff goma - -

I always felt that Goma gave a 100% when he did play. The defence looked better, and his commitment stood out. He was a professional when he was on the pitch and we shouldn't forget that, if there were more like him we'd be better off.

Goma is the one with the blonde hair and centre parting isn't he ??!

-- Anonymous, March 13, 2001

Yep I always was impressed with his attitude despite wanting away. He always gave 100% and never shirked his job. So he made a couple of mistakes - oh that was all the others made. I reckon Fulham have got a good player and we've got a fair price for a 28 year old.

As already said leaves space for Dabz + youngsters. Unless Bobby has somebody else lined up . . .

I'm awaiting his next interviews with interest to hear what he has to say about our highly professional outfit. Can't imagine why he would possibly want to go and play for the man widely tipped as the next French national coach when he could remain at NUFC and keep reading about how it's all the foreigners' fault when they all play like the Frank Spencer Appreciation Society. Good luck to him, it was hardly what it said in the brochure.

Ahh...that makes more sense, thanks Softie.

-- Anonymous, March 13, 2001

Nice one, your Royal Softness.

-- Anonymous, March 13, 2001

........oh, and bugger off Goma

-- Anonymous, March 13, 2001

....nowhere near as good a clapper as WB either!

-- Anonymous, March 13, 2001

I reckon £ 4m is a decent price. Goma was a good player when fit, and gave 100%. It's a shame he had to go, but if he wasn't happy then so be it. When he returns for Fulham at St James' in the PL next season I'll be standing up and giving him a clap . Canny player, canny blerk, all the best to him.

I've got nothing against the guy. He's played well and professionally for us even though he wanted away. Alot more than can be said for some of our past/present unhappy lads. I just thought it was a bit of a slap in the face for him to leave us for a first division team when he supposedly wanted to go somewhere with more opportunity. After reading Softie's post, Goma's move makes a lot more sense. Hope he does well...but not against us! ;-)

-- Anonymous, March 13, 2001

Don't have a problem with someone not wanting to play for us and saying so. Alain leaves us without a brass farthing whilst the miserable shits of this game like Hamann engineer a move and then get paid some sort of loyalty severance payment for having their contract terminated "against their wishes". That is something which deserves nothing but contempt and compares very poorly with requesting a transfer and playing well until a bid is accepted for you.

-- Anonymous, March 14, 2001

Disappointed he's left but more so that he's left for an English club who will be in the Premier and will take points off us. Would have been much happier had he buggered off to Europe.

-- Anonymous, March 14, 2001

I stick by my fuck off froggy comment....yes there's a slight difference between the Goma's and the Hamann's of the world but not one I care about.....neither of them want to play for the Toon so they can fuck off.....

-- Anonymous, March 14, 2001

Good luck to the guy. At least he was honest with us. Made no secret of his wish to leave but always gave 100%.
