I am trying to make sense of all this, I have a quick question.

I have a digital sony video camera and I transfer videos to my computer in avi format, they are quite large. Then edit them, etc. etc.

I was wondering if there is a software like the CD creator 5 that would let me put those videos on a CDR so I can play back on a DVD Player, and if so, what format should it be so I can playback on the dvd player? and how many minutes can I put on the CDR? thank you much walter

Nero 5.0 and higher will create VCD's (Video Compact Disc). Adaptec's EZ CD Creator (Deluxe version only), will also create VCD's. You can normally write to any CDR, but a silver bottom works best. CDRW's work just fine also. Your DVD player must support the playback of VCD's, along with the normal DVD's. (Just any won't work, it must be able to play VCD's too). You must save it in VCD compliant format (usually MPEG 1 - most video editing software programs out there let you save it as MPEG 1 for VCD. Then when you run Nero or EZCD, it will ask you what file you want, etc, etc, and you can point it to the VCD compliant MPEG 1 file you just rendered) Last but not least, you can put approximately 1 hour of video per disc. (That being the reason why most VCD's of movies you see on the internet are 2 discs, since you have to split the movie into 2 parts). Hope this helped!
