My Minolta CLE is locked. Push down the shutter. Nothing happens. I can't advance the film. The level is locked. What should I do?

Is there film in the camera? Sometimes the advance lever doesn't ratchet enough to cock the shutter on the last frame, (usually 37 or 38 on a 36 frame roll), and the shutter can't be fired nor can the advance lever be moved, because of the length of the film being not quite equal to one frame.

If this is the case, rewind the film in the normal way and cycle the advance lever and shutter.

If this or the battery doesn't correct the problem... sorry, I'm out of ideas.

turn the on off switch on & off a bunch of times. Sometimes the CLE gets some dampness or whatever on an internal contact. Replace the battery and clean the contacts as stated already. Try it on a manual speed. If all of this fails, call these guys:http://www.precision- camera.com/repair/minolta.htm
