Loose Aperture Rings--Adjustable?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

Hi

I've noticed that some of the aperture rings on my various M lenses seem to be looser than others. Are the tiny screws in the aperture rings themselves used to tighten/loosen the rings? The lenses perform perfectly, but I was just curious as to the possibility of adjustment. Thanks in advance. Regards, Richard Fulco

I don't know about doing it yourself, but I know a repair tech can do it. I had the aperture ring of my 50 Summicron tightened up by Getty Smith at Kindermann here in Canada.

Whoops, make that "Gerry" Smith.

If you are comparing some vintage chrome lenses to more modern (1980's and newer), they will feel different.

Don Goldberg (DAG Camera Repair, 608.838.4769) tightened up the very loose aperture ring on my 35 Summilux-ASPH. He turned it around quickly, too.
