HULL SAVED BY LEEDS DIRECTOR

Adam Pearson has been revealed as the mystery man that saved Hull City from extinction.

Pearson has quit his job as commercial director at Leeds and will take over as chairman and chief executive of the Third Division club.

Pearson confirmed that his consortium had purchased 100 per cent of the Tigers' shares and announced that he would reveal the identity of other investors within a fortnight.

"My first task is to put together a new board and there will be some non-executive board appointments made by March 27," he said.

"The immediate task is to stop the club haemorrhaging money, but there will be limited funds made available to Brian Little in the summer for new players.

"The biggest advantage the club has is the relationship with the council in regard to the construction of the new stadium, which will be completed by August 2002."

City had faced the threat of liquidation after being placed in administration, but the £360,000 takeover, fronted by Pearson, was agreed last week, with creditors set to receive 30p in the pound as part of the rescue package.

Despite their problems boss Brian Little - whose job is said to be safe under the new owners - has led the club to the fringes of the Division Three play-off zone.
