DV footage from camera to PC to VCD software and howto suggestions.

I wish to take DV footage and place onto VCD for viewing. I plan to use a firewire card to capture. Any suggestions on relatively simple, lightweight software that would do this. Windows 98. How to advice appreciated. Thank you.

I use ADS Tech Firewire card that comes with Ulead Video Studio 4 SE. Use Video Studio to capture DV to AVI-DV format. You can also use the Video Studio 4 to convert the AVI files to mpeg 1 or 2 (VCD and SuperVCD). The resulting mpeg's can be burned to VCD format using Adaptec EZ CD creator DeLuxe. If you want to burn Super VCD, Xvcd or XSVCD then you have to use Nero burning S/W. Get Nero if you don't own EZ CD yet.

Instead using Video Studio to convert AVI to mpeg, use the free Tsunami mpeg encoder ( www.tmpgenc.com ). It is the best encorder out there. For further info, go to vcdhelp.com.
