Do you want the good news on YKD, or the bad?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Well, news that Dyer is unlikely to be fit to play before September are tempered by word in the Journal this morning that FS has opened discussions with "his people" on a 2 year extension to his contract that would keep him at SJP for another 5 years.

They quote BR as saying somewhat toungue-in-cheek that the Toon wouldn't accept £100 million for YKD - yeh, right - and intend to rebuild the squad around him.

Following on from comments attributed to AS, following his Freedon of the City award yesterday, that the club is about to embark on another period of big spending, perhaps the sleeping giant is finally stirring from its slumbers.

.....forgot to mention that I have attempted to find out from the Club the precise nature of Dyer's injury, which is still being variously reported as 'shin splints' and a 'cyst' - which are entirely different problems. Unfortunately, they have not responded to my e-mail, and I appear to have become 'persona non grata'.
Wonder why?

Yes, I do like the expression - "his people". Not to be outdone I can say that I have "my people". However, wife and kids (PARTICULARLY the DAUGHTER) seem to consider their management task in an entirely different light than Dyer's - mainly a constant stream of mock wonder at why I do such things as I do. And supporting NUFC is top of their list.

Entirely understandable Sounder. I side-stepped that particular fate by ensuring all three of my kids were fully infected with the 'innoculum toonitis' - they're all as daft as me now.
It's tough to obtain the vaccine from 6,000 miles away though.

Clarky, in your communications with the club, should they happen, can you extract from them what action they have taken to eradicate the serious amount of injuries that we have had this season.

The injuries and more worringly their treatment, has cost us a place in Europe this season. If there was ever a reason to invest heavily in new technology/staff then that is it.

If they have done all this then fine, we CAN put it down to bad luck!

I'd love to DB, but as indicated earlier on this thread - I appear to have become 'persona non grata', as they aren't answering my e- mails any more.

I'm wondering whether they may have taken umbrage at my criticism's of management on here?

Stop getting ideas above your station Mr Clark. FS probably wouldn't have a clue what you were on about - he probably thinks umbrage is a Spanish herbal aphrodisiac. :-))
