Yes it is a good book. It does go into more creative explanation, but not too very much. I bought one when I bought my IIe in 1996. It is a good supplement to the Canon camera manual. I'm not sure where the company's web site is but I think you can order it from http://www.camerasphere.net/camerasphere/book.html.

The Elan II/50 Magic Lantern Book has everything that's already in the manual with a little amplification, a primer on photography, stock photos and some junk photos by the author. If you're an experienced Canon photographer the book is a real yawn. However, if you don't know a F-stop from a shortstop you'll find the explanation of features and use extremely enlightening.

Scanning a 200 page book is a pain in the butt and is theft of itellectual property. This book may be purchased at most well stocked camera stores and online dealers for only $15 to $20.
