M1-Edit & M2-Edit from www.mediawaresolutions.com it's the best you'll ever see for joining, splitting and converting mpegs of any description.

yep tried m1-edit, it improved a little though like the pause between segments, but there still a slight pause like half a second in between segments,i dont know why but maybe winoncd 3.8 causing the problem....i guess cant make a vcd exactly like dvd menus just yet....anyone out there having this problem?

Are you burning several different files to your VCD? The pause between them is normal and can be different depending on your authoring software and player. In Nero you can change the length of the "pause" between clips.

However if you are talking about "joining" two clips together, then you should see "no" pause when played back.

If you are working with Mpeg-1 and "really" want the best deal for an editor, try the Womble MpegVCR. The mpeg-1 version is only 50 $ US, and it is "frame accurate". Has de-muxing and muxing tools, AND even has transitions like "fade", "wipe" and "blend". It's extremely fast and only encodes the "joined" GOPs to maintain smooth video, but doesn't re-render the entire video. There's NO loss of quality because it's not re-rendering. But if you want to spend the time to "re-encode" the whole video, it will do that too. I've been using the Mpeg-2 version (which is a lot more expensive) every night. For me to cut out 5 commercial segments from a one hour TV show, (and) add some fancy rotational wipes or fades between each clip resulting in a seemless 43 minute video takes me under 20 minutes from start to finish.

Check it out at www.womble.com The Mpeg-1 version is the best kept secret around I guess. Oh, it even has the ability when de-muxing and re-muxing to correct out of sync video by applying an offset.

what im trying to do is making it like a dvd menu, what im doing is cut a movie in several segments to use in the menu much like dvd.what i do in winoncd 3.8 is connect each segments next to each other so when you play , it will play as a whole movie much like dvd, and when i go to menu and press certain button , it will go to that clip, winoncd 3.8 lets you do that on there menu maker, the only problem is when it plays theres always pause,(thats where i connect using winoncd),and yes it works when i press certain button and it will go to that clip or segment

There is a solution to this if you don't want these pauses but you can only have jump to the next cue or back to the previous one; if there is a menu it will point and jump to separate tracks or segments, but not to cue points IN those segments. You don't split your MPEG file into multiple segments but still have it as one long one. Then, in VideoPack, you can enter values for the timing cues that will define exactly at which point in the clip you can jump to or return to. MPEG-1 is not as refined as MPEG-2 such that you can have multiple segments and have absolutely seamless playback in between them without missing a beat. Even in Nero, where the pause in between segments can be set to 0sec, you see that it's really not so.
