Video capture with ATI for VCD playback - which format

Hi folks

Video capture with ATI for VCD playback

With my ATI (All in Wonder 128 pro) card in my pc, I can make AVI files of the movies. After editing a few of such files, I want to write these files to a CD with a CD writer. -What format should I recompress these files to play on a normal Protable View CD Player with out loosing any sound or picture quality. -Does Ulead provide quality editing function and recompress to play on View Cd format. Please help.

Thanks and best regards

Hi dude, first of, you have to capture at the highest resolution that is 768x576 so the picture quality does not degrade after encoding in mpg. You should use Xing mpeg encoder for this.. after encoding done. Next Step Writing to Cd as a VCD format. Use Nero Burning Rom to write to cd.

Krish, First capture your video (from TV,DVD,other sources, etc.)using VCR2 encoding. Note this is .avi format. Save it to a dedicated HD. (I) use Panasonic MPEG encoder,(try to limit your encoding to 30-40 minutes at a time) then... (I) burn VCD with NTI CD Maker 2000 Pro, and presto!! I didn't have to think what specs I should save it to. The software did all of those for me. If you have Adobe Premiere...it really works great too!!...73's, good luck and enjoy....

Why not use the Mpeg capture capability of that card and capture direct to VCD or SVCD? If you have a good source video to begin with the results can be pretty good. And you will save "hours" of encoding time. You can see some samples of VCD and SVCD video captured real time with the ATI 128 card on my web site. www.pcphotovideo.com.
