go to 3 teams per episode instead of 2

I'd love to see that!

The big plus to this is that you could have more teams compete. One of the difficulties of expanding the show would be the required amount of time off "day jobs". If you could eliminate two teams at once, you could cut down on the number of levels of competition and hence amount of time off work.

The downside would be less of a head-to-head compitition and more difficulty keeping track of the teams for viewers.

Perhaps you could have 3-team compititions in the first round, then drop to 2-team shows for the playoffs.

The show does seem to be becoming based on competitors as much as viewers, so it would be nice to have as many involved as possible. The rest of us just need to keep watching it so they have heir ad revenue to pay for it all!

I think the three teams competing on the show would make for some interesting scenarios-- how would teams respond to the increased competition (you'd have to beat two teams instead of one during a challenge). And, in terms of the strategy, would the additional team affect the engineering creativity--would some teams move from the Keep It Simple Stupid philosophy to a riskier approach. Hmmm...

I'm with you, let's try the 3 teams!

Perhaps also eliminate the "experts" from the teams. Yes have an expert(s) there... serving as an advisor, commenting but not building. Give the teams X amount of time before the start of the competition to plan with an expert. Of the few shows I've watched, some of the teams contributed very little to the design... nothing more than hired help with expert running the show.

As for going to more than two teams... I know the "not enough time per episode" is a valid argument. But what about 2 episodes per competition with say X# teams ??... tune in next week to see who completes, who wins... Just rambling, as whatever progression the show does or does not take, I'll be watching.

cheers,
