Crude Oil Clean up

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Junkyard Wars : One Thread

I've seen some realy practical machines put together in those ten hours but how about one that can clean up a crude oil spill? The winner is the team which recovers the most of the pollutant in a given amount of time.

It's a good idea, but sounds almost too practical. It would be good to demonstrate the principles involved in a spill clean up though, and educational as well. It's a really good idea, and I haven't seen it posted before.

I'll third this one. My only question is, where do you set up such a thing? I'm sure there must be testing grounds for pollution recovery equipment, or perhaps some form of short-lasting, non-damaging oil substitute that they test or practice with.
