New Champ Man thread

How's everyone getting on with the game? I just downloaded the 3.89 patch a couple of weeks ago and started a new game.

Doing VERY WELL with Newcastle at the moment. Won the treble in the 1st season and added the Champions League to my second treble in my second season - I've been playing CM for years so I do find it pretty easy!

Team to start the third season is.....

Given Quinn West - 1.5mil from Milan Turdor - Bosman Deisler - Bosman Solano Bruggink - Bosman Viera -10mil from Arse Dyer Bestchastnykh - Bosman (1st season) Totti - 22mil from Roma

I signed the bloke with the big name on a free at the start of the season. Normally CM's database is pretty accurate to real life, so, if this bloke is on a free as well in real life then how come he hasn't been bought? He is a BIG name in Euro footy, loads of caps for Russia and I've heard very good reports about him.

TJC I'm jealous!

The game seems to real to me! Good players being bought and just add black and white stripes and whallah! instant shite!

I'm also in my 3rd season after finishing 14th, then 12th, currently 7th in EPL at the beginnig of December.

My starting line up looks like this

Given Carragher (4mil from 'pool), Stubbs (Bosman - Celtic), Jacobssen (6mil - Udinese) Genaux (2mil - psv eindhoven) Baljic (4mil - Croatia Zagreb), Tsartas (9.5mil - AEK Athens), Gronlund (400k -some small swedish team), Gavilan Mpenza (6mil - Psv eindhoven), Shearer

Subs: Hlydgaard, Wieghorst, Dacourt, Bent, Goma

HELP!

The key to Champ Man is doing well, very well, in your 1st season. If you win the cup or the league then you get a few things happening - main thing is that you get loads of money and another is loads of players become interested in coming.

But loads of decent to good players on Bosmans - even if you don't play them you can sell them and get a lot of money that way.

Always keep an eye out on the transfer market for players who are unhappy. A lot of the time if you bid their exact amount, or even less the offer is accepted. Same again, you may not want these players but as you are buying them for less than their value when tey come to the club their value will rise, therefore you can sell them for quite a large profit.

I find the best formation by for and away is playing 3-2-3-1-2 Basically - 3 DB's, 2 WB's (use attacking midfielders for these), 2 CM's (defensive or attacking) and 1 bloke behind the front 2.

Good players to buy - Hoseth (around 1-2mil), bakircioglu (around 2mil) and LIVERPOOL midfielders (depending on what patch you have you can get murphy for a couple of mil, hamann for the same and even berger for the same)

Haven't played since my 00/01 kept crashing. Was good fun until the fatal crash though, managing England (you have to take LONG holidays), I won the World Cup! Typical England line-up: (3-4-1-2) Martyn; Woodgate, Southgate, Duberry; Eadie (star man!) Ince, Bowyer, Beckham, Dyer; Phillips (soz)/Bridges, Owen. Plus supersub Matt Etherington. You may scoff but these boys scooped the Coupe du Monde.

I played as Newcastle for three seasons and Won the league on three occasions, also got a couple of cups in the theee years but didn't win the CL. I used a 4 - 3(narrow) - 1 - 2 system, and Never changed my formation. I found that the 2000/ 01 version was the easiest that I've ever played, (Unless I'm just getting better) THe star player to get for nowt was Tonton Zola Mokouku , I also got Mads Joergenson again, along with a whole host of other foriegners.

I didn't fancy another season at Newcastle so restarted along with a friend in the second division. I was Stoke and he was Millwall. Playing the same formation I won the league, got some bosmans the next season, got promoted to the Premier league where i'm currently in 3rd spot. Mid way through season the club has little money, few stars but keeps on winning. The key to lower league teams seems to be to sack your scouts, search for new scouts with high atributesin player potential and then letting them loose on Europe. It's amazing what you can pick up for a few hundred thousand.

Getting a bit bored with Championship manager now, came accross an interactive multi player on line game called play AS MANAGER By Anco on-line. Downloaded the demo, It looks brilliant. I want to start my own league, but no one on here looks interested. More info on this game on the Championship manager directory on this BBs.
