Crusty Bread : LUSENET : FAQ : One Thread

I make 2 lbs French bread loaves but the crust is rarely crusty (like store bought).

How do I make "Crusty" bread?

To get crispy crust all you need to do is spritz your loaves just prior to putting the oven with just plain water. Then quickly put them in the oven. About 10 minutes later open the oven and mist them once again clost the door. When finished the loaves should have a nice brown hard crust on them..good luck
