Nielsen on employee retention

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Joel on Software : One Thread

Joel, at the very bottom of the article he finally lists 3 things which he says someone lists as the real reasons people leave/stay with a company. However, he doesn't justify or even comment on the reasons.

I don't think the point of the article was to provide any real insight into why people change jobs, but just to say "Never listen to what people say. Instead look at what they do."

Joel, The difference between what you say and what Jakob says is that he is talking about a study with actual numbers.(surprisingly a recent onem Jakob always quotes old ones). What you say is all your perception and you do not give any numbers about how well it works. I prefer what Jakob says. By the way this is what he says is important career advancement financial rewards based on company performance innovation and risk And it makes sense. Atul

I'm not sure what the big deal is about this guy. His web page has lots of stuff on it about usability, but I couldn't find an e-mail link for him. I wanted to add a comment to one of his articles, but there seemed to be no way to do so. I finally sent an e-mail to the only address I could find on his site, and never heard a reply. I found a pile of cheesy promo photos of him, though. Woohoo.

When everything on the web page is text, it all seems to have equal priority, so I don't know what to read first, or at all. In other words, not very usable.
