This is how we learn, I guess. I ordered one of these microscopes. The optics are not bad. I'll be returning it though. Here's why.

The instructions are in American English, well illustrated, and easy to understand. A sample mounted slide is included -- a flea (well under 1mm dia.). So far so good.

Tried it out. The flea looks normal. The FOV (150x fixed) is such that only a portion of the flea is visible, so the slide has to be moved to see other parts of it. The slide manipulation feature is pretty clumsy. There's an effective lock to fix it in the selected position -- which is necessary to keep it where you want it.

Trouble is that you can't unlock the slide without moving the specimen entirely out of view. Serious disadvantage. I think it would stymie any kid trying to use it. Certainly did for me.
