Thus, with 10 days remaining before the Vikings are expected to make a decision on Steussie's status, the possibility of his release appears likely. Steussie is due a $1 million roster bonus March 15 and is expected to be released by that date. The Vikings would trim more than $2 million off the salary cap by cutting Steussie. The Vikings nearly released Steussie last week to get under the salary cap. However, they didn't need to and wanted to buy an additional two weeks to negotiate. Steussie said Sunday there has been no contact. ``Basically, nothing has changed; it's the same situation,'' he said. ``They haven't called since the deadline passed (Thursday). It's status quo.'' Steussie has told friends he will not take a pay cut. Team sources said the Vikings will not budge from their stance, either. Steussie is due to have a salary-cap number of $7.3 million next season. The Vikings want him to renegotiate a deal that would pay him $4 million a season. ``You hear so much speculation, but I still think something could be worked out,'' Steussie said.
