The HM Prison Stadium

too obvious!

If our Board decided to do this there would be absolute uproar and I imagine the Leeds fans are similarly cheesed off.

After their visits to Turkey, I'd go for 'ell and Back.

As for wor place, The Geordie National Stadium.

Not sure about renaming Elland Road, but it should contain 'right wing racist fascist bast@rds' somewhere in it. Just a thought.

Bellend Road

Full of knobs

It's only bricks and mortar, we already regret not moving to a new stadium & if we could get £10m to name it Adidas good, it means a decent player.

Naaah...ya don't want to start going down the corporate road with stadium names. Venues lose all remaining character and recognition after renaming. It's epidemic over here. Now you mention the name of a stadium or arena, and nobody outside the local area has a clue what you're talking about. There's just nothing magic about going to "Yournamehereforenoughmoney" Stadium. And no history when the name can be changed whenever someone with more money comes along.

I agree Ciara. The baseball stadium in Seattle - largely built at taxpayers expense - was named Safeco Field for $20m, after an insurance company. People now just refer to it as "The Safe" so I think they have not exactly won out. Of course this was a new stadium. I think its actually rather pleasing to still be going to SJP - even though it bears no resemblance to the place where I watched Milburn & Co when I was a nipper. (In fact some of the present lot shouldn't really be allowed on the turf.)

Well, that's OK then Sounder, seein' as there's nee bliddy turf there these days anyway.

Even the Kingston Park pitch looked better than SJP does at the moment!

Sounder, Boston rebuilt the Garden and called it the Fleet Center(after the bank, not the enema product...so they say). With the high ticket and food prices they started charging to pay for the thing, it quickly became known as the Fleece Center.

Steph, the waste ground next to Dunston staiths looks better than SJP from where I'm sitting.

Actually, despite the hard surface (you could hear the studs clattering - no, not those studs - as they ran around), I thought the pitch was quite good last night. Not sure I'd want to play rugby on it tho. Oooohhhhhhhhhhh!

Fleece Center - that's good. (Very Bostonian, too.) I don't think there is any need to name after anyone/thing, i.e., it is never enough to make a difference whether the thing gets built or not. Certainly not in the US. Its greed over pride - wins every time.

Actually the lure of corporate dollar$$ is making a difference. The people building the new Foxboro Stadium counted on a big chunk of funding coming from a corporate sponsor who'd name the stadium. Can't remember now who some of the companies were rumoured to be, but (typical Bostonians) there was tons of moaning and worrying that it would be a less than suitable name. I think Monster.com won. Might get saved from being popularly known as Monstrosity Stadium by virtue of the old one being far more deserving of the nickname. ;-)

Going corporate looses the whole meaning of the game, look at where the blackhawks play(united center, united airlines) Colorado Rockies play at coors field after coors beer. the list is endless however I have conveniently forgotten.

I like Lr's suggestion for Bellend road. Ours could be No Trophy Land Park.

How about the other ground in the PL? (sponsor related)
