....is out of contract at the end of the season. Should we renew it?

I say "No".

Thanks Kev, but your goal scoring record isn't good enough and at 34, I'd rather give youth a chance.

Depends how it much it would cost us, and how much he adds in positve attitude to the younger players. He himself probably wants first team football and he shouldn't be getting that with us, so probably time to go.

We should really be looking to have four first team strikers. Say we get Bridges from Leeds, that would give us Alan Shearer, Carl Cort, Michael Bridges and Shola Ameobi.

Whether Ameobi should continue his education in the stiffs is another question but that would leave Gallacher out of the first team and at that age that isn't fair on a player who has never moaned about his role at this club.

The reserves have Coppinger, McMahon, McMenemin and Lua-Lua which should be enough.

In that sense I see so future for Cordone either.

Also if Robson never selects Coppinger for the 1st's at his age he should be looking to make an impact.

I've hardly seen him play but I know for instance Softie believes he's got what it takes. Sooner or later and probably in the summer Robson is going to have to make a decision on Jamie.

I think he really needs to drop a division. We should get him a thank you and goodbye card and say "au revoir". Having said that, are our young lads at the front really as good as all that?

Personally, I'll be sad to see him go. He's got a wonderful attitude, never complains, always works his socks off. He's still got a lot of football left in him, but it probably is best for him to go elsewhere if he wants to play regularly. As good a servant as he's been to our club, there's no way he'll be guarateed regular games here if everyone is fit next season. Emphasis on the 'if'. ;-)

Exactly, IF everyone had been fit this season Gallacher would have played very few matches. All credit to him for not submitting a transfer request and leaving us in the lurch.

Let's put it this way - if Kevin Gallagher still commands a place in our first team squad at the beginning of next season, we're in for another season of misery.

There's no disrespect to KG intended in that statement either - he did an excellent job for us last season, and is a very good pro, but he doesn't have it in him any longer to make an impact at this level.

Right. He was never going to be an impact player and that's what we need. If he is still in the squad then we will have another lousy season. 34 is too old for a forward unless you have some unusual skills which he hasn't that I have ever seen.

A polite thank you on both sides seems appropriate (same as for Warren?)
