Sun today:

A HIT-and-run victim's parents told yesterday how tearful soccer wildman Kieron Dyer held their dying son's hand in a vigil at his hospital bedside.

The England bad boy - being treated for a leg injury at the same hospital - stunned the mum and dad of 24-year-old fan George Fisher by asking to share his last hours.

Emotional Dyer, 22, was shown into intensive care where George lay in a coma. He tenderly comforted the Newcastle United supporter and promised to pray for him.

Hours later George lost his battle for life. Grieving dad John, 47, said: "Kieron proved he was someone who cared and was obviously deeply moved. I hope George heard Kieron's words."

Midfielder Dyer is famed for his outrageous off-field antics. The Newcastle ace was quizzed by cops after claims two girls fought over him during a night out in November.

Last summer Dyer and fellow aces were secretly filmed romping with girls on holiday in Cyprus.

He also had a threesome with two teenagers in his penthouse as his mum, aunt and sister slept in another room.

But he showed his caring side during the visit to Newcastle General Hospital for a scan on the injured shin which is expected to rule him out for the rest of the season.

Child Support Agency worker John, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, said: "One of the nurses must have told him about George. We were amazed. George was a massive Newcastle United fan."

The next morning doctors broke the devastating news that George, who was mown down as he walked home with pals, was brain dead.

Distraught mum Celeste agreed with John that their son's life support machine should be turned off.

He died surrounded by his family. John said: "Kieron was magnificent. We want to thank him for everything he did." A 19-year-old man was arrested over the crash.
