Just another Manic Monday...

...or not, since it's Sunday night right now. But I'm not in until 4 p.m., and wanted to get the party started early.

BTW, I am an evil, evil person. Why? You'll have to wait until I arrive for work to find out.

-- Anonymous, March 04, 2001

Ooh, you so mean! And you won't even say why?

I'm the girl on Crouching Tigah. I am. Wah! Woo! Yah!

Best movie ever.

-- Anonymous, March 04, 2001

Morning!

Uh, Meloonsa's fucking in. sane. Have y'all seen her latest DSAS, complete with links?

Mayyyyyy-un.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Hey kids!

I'm in. I bet it's just you and me, AB, if you're still around.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

I'm here!

And from now on, I would prefer it if you'd refer to me as Crouching An Bei.

Just kidding. Did I tell you I roooooooved it?

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Meg's back! Ooh, H is going to be so sad she missed it.

She took her journal URL off her profile.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Uh, never mind. I read the date wrong. The profile is still right, though.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Oh My God, I roved it so much, too. I want to see it again.

AB - are you and Vince going to the second weekend of sxsw? Someone bought Eric and Chris wristbands and they already have them. If you guys want to buy them, there are two available. Me and H will be there... and your beloved MOC... c'mon... you know you want to...

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Oooh, so tempting. Is it this weekend or next?

We were planning on being there this weekend for Mere's something-or- other, but I don't know if it's still on.

How much are the wristbands?

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

They are $85 per. I know that's crazy. And you're still not guaranteed into every show. But it makes it more likely that you can get into some good ones.

The music starts next week. I'll be down there the 15-18 for that. (I'll also be down this coming weekend, for the film portion.)

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Oh, that's steep. Chao famiry no know if can afford.

Will you be there this weekend?

I have an ABP out on Meredith for details. Stay tuned.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Yeah, I'm going down Friday afternoon and coming back Sunday afternoon to rehearse. Stupid Jag Band.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Mean Jag Band!

If you get the wristband, is it for all week or just that weekend? Where are you staying?

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

It's for all week. Whenever the bands start.

I don't know where Chris and Eric are staying during the week... but I think me and the MOC are staying with Hannah at her hotel on the weekend. I'm not to clear, actually, on that second weekend.

This weekend, though, we're staying at Pam's friend Chuy's house. He and his wife are going to be in Vegas and we're staying there. Me and Chris and Pam and... wait for it... stee.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Oh my God.

So, I'm going this weekend.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

You ARE?! You simply MUST come and see Dan's film then, at 11:45 AM on Sat! Hooray!

I'll find out where it's playing...

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Okay!

What are the other options besides wristbands? I mean, I could get one, and if I didn't, I wouldn't be able to hang with y'all, would I?

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

OK, it's playing Saturday March 10, 11:45 AM at the Dobie 2. That's on 21st and Guadelupe.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Cool.

What if I only want one wristband? I don't think Vince Chao will go.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

See, I'm not entirely crystal on what the deal is about the pass/ wristband/ none-of-the-above options are. If you have a pass, you can get into anything, I think. If you have a wristband, you can get into almost anything, after the people with passes and before the people with nothing. And if you have nothing, I think you just pay a cover charge if there is still room after the pass and wristband people have already been let in.

It's all very complex. Chris made a spreadsheet.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Oh, and all this wristband/ pass stuff is just for the music part. The film part, you just go and buy a ticket to the movie you want to see.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

No he didn't.

Hooknose.

Maybe Meredith wants the other wristband. I'll ask the wench, if she'll ever call me back.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Oh! So if I were only going this weekend, I wouldn't really need one then, right?

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Oh, hooknose, he did. For the bands. There are so many bands playing that he wants to see, and they're all playing at the same time all over town, he had to make a spreadsheet so he could no in an instant who was playing where.

We've been teasing him about it all week. I'm getting t-shirts made that say "South by Spreadsheet 2001: XCELent."

Want one?

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Uh, yeah. How could I pass that up?

This is all so confusing!

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Yeah, you wouldn't need a wristband if you just went down this weekend.

Dude, check out my miserable spelling up there. "no" means "know."

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

I think that's the funniest misspelling ever.

I no what I no, know joke.

Okay, so I don't need a wristband. I wish you could stay until Monday. I may, so I can see pamie's thing.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Me too. I wish I could quit my job, so I could do it.

Speaking of jobs, J-Co sort of offered me a job this weekend to manage the content of the web site his company will soon launch. He did it like this: "Would you like to work for us? Now, it would have to be with the understanding that if you did work for me, we could never date. Would you be ok with that?"

I was like "Uh... you mean things would be just like, uh, they are NOW? Uh, yeah, I would be perfectly fine with that."

He got UPSET and went "You WOULD?!"

Why are men so crazy? Why is HE so crazy? Why do I ROVE him so much?

By the way, I was pretty good. The weekend was fun, and Jamie makes me CLAZY, but I was haunted by this huge Bennigans across from the hotel, like it was the ghost of the MOC.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

I went to lunch and now AB is gone and I'm all alone... so cold...

I can't wait to hear why Mike is an evil person.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

I'm here, Al!

I can't wait to hear why Mike's evil, too.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

I'll let you know in a sec...

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

I'm sending it by e-mail ... it just got too long.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Herro?

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Mike - have you already been on the radio?! And we missed it?!

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Herro? Herro?

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

I was on yesterday ... it kind of sucked. I was on right after the host got into a shouting match with an XFL fan. How can a guy follow that, I ask you?

Also, I ripped on Alabama. Forgive me?

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

You rat.

I've forgiven you for a lot of things, Mike Berman... but you know I can't forgive you for that.

Maryland sucks.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Al, Meredith and Vince want the wristbands.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Ok.

I'll ask Eric if he's sold them yet.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Scratch that. Meredith said she wants both of them, and she'll give one to Vince if he's nice.

Mike, I wanted to listen to you last night, but you nevah say what time you on! I risten after CTHD, and you no there!

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Eric will let us know tomorrow. His friend Stacey bought them for him and he's checking with her to make sure she still has them.

If so, Mere can buy them.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Sounds good. When are you leaving Friday?

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Remember when Alabama won at LSU to start the season, and there was the controversy where the Alabama players jumped on the scorer's table and made a big fuss over it?

I said that in hindsight, they were right to celebrate because they apprently knew it was going to be their only SEC road win of the season.

BTW, just so you know, I'm incredibly jealous of y'all for sxsw.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Allison, does your sportswriter friend think Alabama will make the NCAAs?

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Gah! My e-mail's down. Suck.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

That does suck. I hate it when my mail goes down. I feel so isolated.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

I know. It's an evil plan to keep me down. Or at least, to keep my e-mail down. Bastards.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

My sportswriter friend is you!

Oh, wait - you mean Joe Guy Collier of The State? He writes business now, but I'll have to ask him. I haven't talked to him in a while. But my up-and-coming wannabe sportswriter friend is in high hopes for the Tide. High hopes that will probably be dashed. I think he's been travelling with the team and everything.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

It's up again, because I prayed to the e-mail god, Communitor.

Blazer's mailing me a Harry Potter bumper sticker! Woo!

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Chris Yarborough? Is that his name? That's who I was talking about.

I think they'll make it, but I doubt they win a game. That, of course, means that they'll play Maryland in the first round and win by 90.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Wasn't "Communitor" a Transformer?

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

I don't know, but I do know that he's the brother of the kitchen god, Culinor.

All my gods have "or"s. Hmmm.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Yeah, Chris Yarbrough. I think he's been travelling with them - he's all about Gottfried. Look at www.marks-madness.com sometime, and check out the forum. The site is sort of poorly designed, but I think the stuff he has written in the forum is good. Chris may be an excellent prospect for dot.com journalism.

Yeah, yeah, they won't win a game, whatever. It'll serve them right for being a bunch of punks this season.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

He must be loving it however ... it's the best time of year for hoops fans.

Have I missed anything on the forum? I went in for two seconds, read Meloonsa's DSAS and quickly clicked away.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Not really, Mike. But Al, WriterGirl's asking for advice from the "MATH Institute of Southern Etiquette."

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Yeah AB, I just saw that, responded and was running over here to tell you to represent.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Where is this?

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

In "Why Girls Are Weird", M.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Y'all, We feel bad about it, but Ratsy had to go post in DSAS.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Damn, we're good, Al.

Who suggested mules? Blech.

Going to see what Ratsy did...

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Allison Lowe! Wow!

That was great.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Ratsy is like the L_L of all threads. Whenever We post, it shuts them down for while. People have to stop and try to figure out who it is and what We're talking about.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

I think I might get blamed for this one.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Wha? Really? Why? You know I can delete it. Should I?

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

No, don't delete it! I'll deny everything if accused.

jatake, I think, knows that I'm part of Sir Ratsy because of that time I inadvertantly posted in the Fairfax-Fells thread. I'm not sure if anyone else noticed, but if they did I'm sure at least MorganG and Erin would figure it was me, since we've had the aforementioned Meloonsa discussions.

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Ok, Ratsy stays.

I just sent you a long-ass e-mail. Are you on tomorrow?

-- Anonymous, March 05, 2001

Got it. Will respond in a sec.

I'm off tomorrow, but I'll be here for a few hours, probably around 3- 4 p.m. or so. You can pretty much count on me being here, at some point, every day in March.
