Another new challenge from Dan

Your plane is downed while inadcertantly crossing across the airspace of a military installation of a third world country. The four of you are in the middle of a "dead zone" of old military scrap equipment (obviously used for target practice). You had five other passengers, but they are all hurt beyond travelling. You have to get them to help in 24 hours, or their outlook is grim.

Around the dead zone, you see the tops of many land mines (compressed air powered flour bags). Obviously, there are more than the eye can ready see. However they appear to be randomly placed anywhere from 2' to 4' apart.

You have to devise a way to get the people out. Will you risk a flying machine, walking machine or a wheeled machine with some method of bomb disposal? No one knows...it's up to you.

What will you do?

I'd go for a wheeled machine with a plow mounted to clear a path through the minefield.
