Runner's IT band.

I am nursing an iflamation of the illitobial band. (i think that's how you spell it). Any runners out there who can give advice on recovery. I've had it for about 4 weeks now. I'm trying to run through it which is probably the worst thing for it, but I'm preparing for a 30k race on March 25/01. HELP!!!! Thanks in advance.
