Solano to Peru

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Bearing in mind he may miss up to ten games a season, would you flog our little Peruvian in the summer

IMO missing close to one third of a season without injuries involved is unacceptable and he should be moved on.

As long as Dyer stays I'd give Dyer the wide right position and take some of the attacking responsibility off him by replacing Solano with a left winger.

Play Dyer as a right winger and we'll see the best of him. While Solano is at the club we can't do that with Dyer and we'll still have this unbalanced, no shape, midfield.

I doubt Nobby is one of the big earners but even so we need strength in depth. He's an asset that we should keep.

If anything the timing of this may well factor into his contract re-negotiations. As in, he can't be expecting any big raises if he's going to be missing so many games on international duty. It would be different if he came back from Peru firing on all cylinders, but he doesn't. He should stay, if he wants to, but not get full time wages for part time work.

Not doubting his ability Geordie, but he will effectively become a part time player and his saleable value imo outweighs this potential contributuion.

Nobby will be a lot happier now that he feels wanted by his national team. He's away for 3 weeks I think, culminating in a game against Chile on the 27th March . If he can regain his form and get his morale up and then sign a new contract on his return , I think we'll all be happy. He's having a poor spell at the moment , we don't want to lose him as he's one of if not our best player. Perhaps he'll be better off with this break.

Nobby didn't do a whole lot today - but he wasn't entirely alone. Don't get me wrong - he didn't hide, but he hardly set Goodison alight. Dunno what YBR will make of it, but if we had sufficient cover, I'd say keep him and let the "cover" play when he's not available. And of course, factor that into his contract negotiations.

We must look to improve our consistency and playing Solano is not condusive to consistent play. Give Dyer the right wing and have Gavilan as cover.

My feeling is that we have to prepare for his Greek passport being dodgy and let him fulfil the international requirements of his Peruvian work permit. Don't think he's as good as he sometimes looks or as bad as he sometimes looks - he certainly isn't world class. How good would he have looked in a Keegan side? Keep him, though.
