What's a Beseler 45MXT+Nikkor 135/5.6 worth?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Large format photography : One Thread

I recently came into possession of a nice Beseler 45MXT (condenser head with motorized lift) with a Nikkor 135/5.6 lens, but no baseboard (easily replaced with plywood) and no negative carrier. I'd keep it but I already have an Omega 4x5 dichro (one of those couldn't refuse deals my wife just doesn't appreciate like I do). I've looked around (eBay, Adorama, KEH, Midwest Photo Exchange), but can't seem to find a reliable estimate of what it's worth. Any help you can give is appreciated.

Thanks, Dave

Depends alot on the condition. I believe the MXT is the current model. with the lens you should be able to get between 700 and 900 for it. As with everything else, it is worth what someone will pay for it. A big concern for selling enlargers is shipping costs. if people have to pay alot for shippint the tend to want to pay less for the item. Also, it is not complete (nonoriginal baseboard) and many people prefer a cold light to the condensor. If you sell on ebay you will of course have a commission. I would start at about $900 and slowly come down every once in awhile until I had a bite. Kevin
