Relious activities will not get you into heaven, Jesus who died and rose again alone can save us, Are you trusting in traditions or are you saved?greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread
If you look at all the false religions around the world they have this in common, Islam,Mohammed,Koran--Morminism,Joseph Smith,Book of Morman--Jehohova Witnesess,False prophets,Watch Tower--Catholocism,Pope,another 6 books wich Jesus never used, ungodly traditions? this the antichrist way of leading you away from Jesus. He always wants you to believe just a little more knowledge we have something new. Jesus said i am the way and the truth and the life--Jesus is all we need, he alone can save.
Jesus is all we need, let us look at a true follower of Jesus who has been set free.
When Ron lived in the Phillipines, he became good friends with a man name Tony who was raised in Italy. He was ordained by the Pope and sent to the Phillipines as President of the Catholic Unerversity there.
Tony had a Ph.d in Catholic dogma and speaks nine languages fluently. But in 1975 something unusual happened. Tony was saying Mass for a group of nuns in a convert North of Manilla. as he drove out the gate of the convert to go back to his rectory in Manilla, he noticed o little Potestant Baptist Church across the street. he had never been in the Protestant Church in his whole life, having been raised in Italy. Curiosity got the better of him, so he walked into this little Baptist Church. The pastor recgonized him, and they got talking. Then the pastor challenged Tony to simply read the read the word of God. Tony said later:
Here I was, a catholic scholar, and if you've gone through Catholic catechism, you know that Catholic Dogma says the Bible is the inspired word of God, so it would'nt hurt to read it.
He began to read the word for the next 6 months. The so convicted him that he got down on his knees and asked Jesus Christ to be his Lord and savior.
But at that pointhe had a problem, because as he continued to study he realized that he would have go back to Italy and tell the Pope he could no longer remain in the Catholic Church, since it was not consistent with what God had revealed in the Bible.
But his biggest problem was having to go home and tell his Italian mother that he was leaving the preisthood. Yet Tony is now back in the Phillipines as a Baptist missionary, in the same place where he was once the President of the Catholic Unerversity!
Tony, the Catholic scholar who found Christ, tells people he feels as Paul felt when he wrote Romans 10:1-3. He tells them:
I pray for their salvation because they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge. For they are seeking a righteousness of their own apart from Jesus Christ
As a catholic, I had a zeal for God. If you know any Roman Catholics, some of them are the most zealous religious people you'll ever meet. They are working so hard to get to like them.
I believed in the trinity, I believed in the diety of Jesus Christ, I beleieved in the atonement and bodily resurrection. I even taught all those things. But when it came to my slvation, I was trusting my salvation to the church and to the mass, to Mary, and to the saints. I was putting my trust in everything but Jesus Christ.
When I came to tealize that there is only one mediator between God and man, it was a light bulb that finally came on inside me. All of sudden everything else made sence. The greatist joy in all the world was when I finally stepped out of that bondage of tradition that has been piled on, and discoverd the joy and the peace of knowing Jesus Christ personally.

Hi Alex, I am glad that you have accepted Jesus Christ as your saviour. I remember when I got saved the minister did not emphasize to me that I would need the Holy Spirit to help me live the christian life by teaching me the word of God and then empowering me to live according to his word. For it is my belief that christians are unable to live the christian life on their own will power. I encourage you as a christian to focus on submitting your free will to the Holy Spirit so that God's personal will for your life will be accomplished.
