Which Canon Flash is good for ELAN IIE

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Camera Equipment : One Thread

I planning to buy a good Canon flash for my Canon Elan IIE. Could anyone suggest the various options available to me please.

Any Canon flash with reasonable price is O.K.

thanks much, Sri.

Canon "E-TTL" speedlites are: MR-14EX, 220EX 380EX, 420EX and 550EX. All other EOS speedlites will also meter internally (TTL) with the Elan IIe, but with fewer features. See my web page:

The 380EX was designed to go with the Elan IIE. If you don't need too much power, that's what I'd recommend. I think they run about $150 now. The 220EX is cheaper. The 420EX was introduced for the 7E. It has a few more features that might be worth extra money (about $40 more, I believe).

if you have the money, go with the 550ex. stay away from the 380ex. If you can't afford the 550ex, go with the 420ex.
